As AIs progress, the limits between robots and humans are narrowing. AI challenges us in countless areas and is surpassing our ability to complete countless tasks. And today, companies want us to talk to them via AI–their so-called vocal assistants. As if talking to a robot has become normal! Recent years have seen an explosion in so-called conversational AI. The problem is that some current systems are still unstable and don't exactly spark the desire for conversation.
When Will We Have Human-like Assistants? IoT For All
I joined the Star Wars fandom late in the game. I grew up in India, where Star Wars is less of a thing, but in 2015 I watched "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and set out on a quest to watch everything. They can move and talk (though mostly in gibberish) and act intelligently. As we all know, technology is often inspired by movies. Just look at how speech technologies are evolving and inspired by movies like Star Wars.

Last week, on March 23rd, e-Commerce One To One Monaco revealed the vision of Guillaume Bacuvier, VP Advertising Solutions, EMEA at Google. During the keynote organized by Ingrid Fillon, he explained the technical disruption that will impact Google Search, Retail and eCommerce players in the coming years. The Google device (aka Home Assistant) is the web browser of the future as seen in the picture above. Indeed this new technology is able to act like a human personal assistant upon voice requests. The worldwide Search Engine is challenged to think about innovative ways to become more personalized and accurate in facilitating your life like an assistant would do.
